Maserati flip key shells like these are delicate and can be a little tricky to take a part. You should definitely take your time and check the attached photos carefully for the steps to doing this. You can also bring your broken key to us and we will happily swap over the electronics and cut the new keyblade to match your old key.
These keys generally use glass ID48 transponder chips and again these are very delicate. If you break this glass chip the car will not start.
This key shell has a key blade matching the Silca SIP22 profile common on Fiat, Lancia, Masereti and other Italian vehicles.
We charge $70 extra to cut the key, swap over the electronics and test it all at the end.
The steps to disassemble your key are as follow:
1. Remove the screw retaining the battery holder and remove the battery holder
2. Remove the logo sticker on the back of your key
3. Remove the screw hidden under the Maserati logo sticker
4. Now carefully separate the front and back of the key shell.
5. Gently remove the glass transponder chip and fit it into the slot in the new shell
6. It is a good idea to secure the chip with some general purpose contact cement.
7. Carefully remove the circuit board and place it in the front part of the new key.
(There are 2 locating lugs in the front section which fit into the holes in the PCB to locate it correctly)
8. Transfer both battery contacts from the old shell to the new shell - taking care to locate them securely.
(It helps to melt the locating lug once the battery contact in the back part of the case is fitted in place)
9. Assemble the new shell in reverse order to the steps above.
10. To tension the key blade rotate the back section of the case anti-clockwise x 2
11. Test that the flip key flips correctly and with enough power, and test the remote operates correctly.
12. You can now have the key blade cut to match the old one.
