This stylish and sturdy 2 button remote flip key van be used with the following Subaru models in the table below:

If you have been given a part number of 57497AE110 for a key for your car then this key will suit. 

On the back of your key there should be a sticker with the detail: Alpha Corp COJ12 on it.

This key profile is a JMA DAT-15 and has the same key blade as a Silca NSN14.

This key uses an ID62 transponder chip that can either be cloned or a virgin ID62 chip can be diagnostically programmed to the car.

The remote part of this key can be coded manually to your vehicle follwoing the instructions provided but the transponder chip can only be coded to the vehicle using specialist diagnostic equipment by a licensed locksmith, auto electrician or some mechanics.

The main security element in modern car keys is the transponder chip. These have been used in most makes of cars from the mid 90's. It is this item that allows the car ignition to start the engine. These transponders can come in a few different types and there is more information on this subject in our FAQ section.

In most remote keys the remote and transponder are separate items with the remote simply opening the doors and the transponder being the security. As a cheap alternative to having 2 remote keys, if you simply want a spare key, a transponder key without a remote can save you a lot of dollars.

It is always a good idea to program the remote part of your key before you get the blade cut or the transponder programmed. If the remote programming fails you can then return the item without any issues.

A few things to consider would be:

When the car is locked using the remote and then opened with the key, does it set off the alarm? This is common in some car makes with the alarm going off until the car is started. Always a good idea to check this before getting a copy made as if you are sharing the car with another user who uses the remote your neighbours may not be too pleased with the regular early morning car alarm calls. If the key is intended to only be a spare then it will not matter.

A transponder key such as this is essentially waterproof  as it does not contain a battery and so if you like surfing, boating, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, fishing or any other water based activities where you have to lock your vehicle and leave it unattended for a while this kind of key will allow you to lock the car and bring the key with you without fear of any water damage as would be the case with a remote key or flip key.

Having a spare transponder key can save you thousands of dollars should you lose your main every day key. Losing your only key with some brands of cars can be a massive headache, involving towing your vehicle to a dealer, having to have the immobilizer box replaced, having all the lock barrels replaced and having the ignition barrel replaced. You may be without your vehicle for up to a week. Of course this is a worst case scenario and with some makes and models a new key can be cut and coded to your vehicle even is all the keys are lost but even then this is still a much more expensive and stressful procedure than simply having a spare key made.

Swallowing or placing a button cell battery inside any part of the body may lead to severe or fatal injuries in as little as 2 hours or less due to chemical burns and potential perforation of the oesophagus.

Dispose of used button/coin batteries immediately and safely. A battery can still be dangerous even when it can no longer operate the device. Place sticky tape around both sides of the battery and dispose of it immediately out of reach of children in an outside bin or recycle safely.
