The Nissan Maxima is know for lasting many years. This long slender shape remote was also used with the Maxima models between 2003 - 2004. Sadly the remote controls do not all fair so well and so if your remote now has holes in the rubber button pad, it is best to repair it before moisture gets in and ruins the circuits completely leading to a much bigger expense.
This high quality rubber pad fits neatly into the original shell and will protect the electronic circuits from moisture and damage and makes your remote look like new again.
There is a slot in the middle of ring loop section. If you insert a flat blade screw driver in this slot and twist the remote case will open. Next simply remove the old pad from your remote and insert this new one to make your remote look as good as new.
While you have it open it is a good idea to test the battery and make sure it still shows 3 volts. Also take a look at the front of the circuit board and see if there is any green corrosion showing around the centre of the buttons. If there is you will need to clean the board using PCB cleaner, making sure to remove the battery.
Spray the buttons liberally with PCB cleaner and after about 30 seconds gently press the buttons with a clean dry rag, preferably something super absorbent such as old cotton t-shirt material. You should see the green corrosion transfer to the t-shirt. You may need to do this a few times and respray with more PCB cleaner. If you have access to low pressure canned compressed air you can also give it a gently blow with this but please do not use high pressure air as this will almost certainly damage the buttons.
If the corrosion is not moving you can spray the board with PCB cleaner and then using a hair dryer gently heat the board for about 4-5 seconds but no more. This should help break down the corrosion for you. Again gently pat the buttons with clean rag to remove the liquid.
Once the board is clean make sure to wait at least 30 minutes before placing the circuit board back in the shell or anywhere near the battery.
The kit includes just the 1 rubber pad as shown in the photos and is easy to do yourself or come into our shop and we will swap them over for you, with a free battery test included.
If the circuit board needs cleaning or repair we can also do this but we do charge a $20 fee for this.
