Later model Nissan Pulsar & Patrol have used this 2 button black round headed remote key. We often see people struggling to lock or unlock their car due to holes in the rubber button part. Holes in the rubber button pad should be repaired immediately before moisture gets in and ruins the circuits completely leading to a much bigger expense for you.
This high quality composite plastic shell with rubber buttons fits neatly into the original key part. Replacing a damaged shell with save you frustration and protect the vital electronics inside your remote from damage.
There is a slot in the middle of the back of the remote part and if you insert a flat blade screw driver in this slot and twist the remote case will separate from the key section. Next you can gently open the remote part again using a small flat blade screw driver and remove the circuit board inside.
While you have it open it is a good idea to test the battery and make sure it still shows 3 volts. Also take a look at the front of the circuit board and see if there is any green corrosion showing around the centre of the buttons. If there is you will need to clean the board using PCB cleaner, making sure to remove the battery before you spray any liquid onto the PCB.
Spray the buttons liberally with PCB cleaner and after about 30 seconds gently press the buttons with a clean dry rag, preferably something super absorbent such as old cotton t-shirt material. You should see the green corrosion transfer to the t-shirt. You may need to do this a few times and respray with more PCB cleaner. If you have access to low pressure canned compressed air you can also give it a gently blow with this but please do not use high pressure air as this will almost certainly damage the buttons.
Once the board is clean make sure to wait at least 30 minutes before placing the circuit board back in the shell or anywhere near the battery to ensure all the PCB cleaner has fully evaporated.
The kit includes just the remote section of the shell only - not the key part. It is pretty is easy to swap over yourself or come into our shop and we will swap them over for you, with a free battery test included.
If the circuit board needs cleaning or repair we can also do this but we do charge a $20 fee for this.
