Peugeot 106 - 206 - 306 - 2 button remote key shell only - NE72 - no electronics

This style of Peugeot key using the Silca NE72 key blade is fairly common and can also be used with some Citroen, Dacia, Nissan, Renault & DAF trucks. 

Things to note are the position of the buttons on the front of the shell and the shape of the key blade. The NE72 type key profile is cut along both edges of the key blade. There are very similar looking keys with the same shape remote part using other key blade profiles so please take a good look before ordering.

You don't have to replace your entire key just because the shell is damaged or the key blade has broken away from the plastic head.

Here we offer you a top quality replacement key shell for your old broken key. Having a key covered in tape or with holes in the buttons is never a good look and can be a real frustration.

The kit includes the front and back sections of the key shell with the key blade being moulded into the back section. As this is an aftermarket key shell, there is no logo on the back cover, it is simply plain.

Swapping over your remote into the new key shell is pretty easy to do yourself or come into our shop and we will swap them over for you, cut the key blade and test the battery for you.

Please note we do charge a fee of $50 for this service and this is only offered at our shop in East Victoria Park, WA 6101.

If you do not live close by you can swap over the remote yourself and have the key blade cut at your local locksmith or key cutting kiosk. This type of key cutting is usually referred to as laser cut or wave cut. 

To swap over the remote, first you will need to open the shell, which can be done by removing the screw with a Philips head screw driver. Next using a flat blade screw driver you can place this in the slot at the end where the key ring attaches and gently twist to open the case. Next remove the circuit board from your old key and place it to one side.

You will find the transponder chip in secured in a little slot in the back cover of the old key. It is a black ceramic chip and is quite small. Again using a thin flat blade screw driver gently lift out the chip being very careful to not damage it and place it in the same spot in the new shell.

Now check that the circuit board is clean and does not have any corrosion or dirt on it. If it does then you will need to clean the circuit board. To clean the board use PCB cleaner and make sure to remove the battery from the circuit board if you are going to clean it with PCB cleaner. Once you have removed the battery spray the PCB cleaner on the board and very gently wipe off andy dirt with a lint free cloth.

Allow at least 20 minutes for any excess PCB cleaner to evaporate from under buttons or microchips on the board, before replacing the battery.

While the battery is out of the battery holder, you can test to see it has 3 volts using a multi-meter if you have one.

Once the cleaner has fully evaporated you can replace the battery and place the remote in the new key shell. Secure the back cover and now your key is ready to be duplicated at your local locksmith shop or key cutting kiosk.

It is always wise to use a reputable key cutting shop to ensure your key is cut accurately as even the smallest variance in the dimensions can prevent the key from working correctly. We calibrate our key machine regularly to ensure it is working to the most accurate level possible.
