Citroen Berlingo C5 Dispatch Xsara - 2 button flip key shell only - no electronics

The SX 9 key profile is widely used with many Citroen models including: 

The key blade is quite a unique shape as you will see from the photos attached.

Most importantly this shell is designed for a remote where the battery holder is part of the circuit board. If your key has the battery in the back cover of the shell you will need a different shell.

Things to note are the position of the buttons on the front of the shell as they are offset with the unlock button symbol being in a circle and the lock symbol in a larger more central position.

The shape of the key blade is also vital as there are 3 other flip keys with the same front cover but all have different key profiles. This one here is classified as a Silca SX9  or JMA SIX-3 key profile and is cut along both edges the key blade.

You don't have to replace your entire flip-key just because the shell is damaged or the key blade has broken away from the plastic body.

Here we offer you a top quality replacement flip-key shell for your old broken flip-key. Having a key covered in tape to hold it together or with holes in the buttons is never a good look and can be a real frustration.

The kit includes the front and back sections of the key shell with the flip-key mechanism being moulded into the back section. Even though this is an aftermarket key shell, there is a square recess in the back cover to place a logo sticker. This square measures 15.5 mm x 15.5 mm and we sell a number of aftermarket logo stickers if you wish to make your new shell look that little bit smarter.

Please note these logo stickers are not genuine and are only intended to be used with aftermarket shells such as this. They by no means are intended to imply that the item is a genuine part and should not be used by the end user to make such an inference.

Swapping over your remote into the new shell is pretty easy to do yourself or come into our shop and we will swap them over for you, cut the key blade and test the battery for you.

Please note we do charge a fee of $50 for this service and this is only offered at our shop in East Victoria Park, WA 6101.

If you do not live close by you can swap over the remote yourself and have the key blade cut at your local locksmith or key cutting kiosk. This type of key cutting is usually referred to as laser cut or wave cut. 

To swap over the remote, first you will need to open the shell, which can be done by using a flat blade screw driver placed in the slot at the end where the key ring attaches. Gently twist to open the case. Next remove the circuit board from your old key and place it to one side. The transponder chip in this type of key is part of the circuit board.

Now check that the circuit board is clean and does not have any corrosion or dirt on it. If it does and you wish to clean it, use PCB cleaner but make sure no battery is connected to the board. This is very important as if you spray PCB cleaner on the board and there is still a power source i.e. a battery connected you can seriously damage the circuit. Use a lint free cloth to very gently clean the circuit board.

Once cleaned allow at least 20 minutes for PCB cleaner to evaporate before replacing the battery.

While the battery is out of the battery holder, you can test to see it has 3 volts using a multi-meter if you have one.

Once the cleaner has fully evaporated you can replace the battery in its holder and place the remote in the new key shell. Secure the front cover and now your key is ready to be duplicated at your local locksmith shop or key cutting kiosk.

It is always wise to use a reputable key cutting shop to ensure your key is cut accurately as even the smallest variance in the dimensions can prevent the key from working correctly. We calibrate our key machine regularly to ensure it is working to the most accurate level possible.
