This key profile was used with a number of Hyundai models as shown in the table below.
This key profile was used in many of the flip keys that come with the Hyundai models below. WE can clone the transponder from your flip key and cut this key so you have a manual key as a spare. This is a much cheaper option than having a full remote flip key sitting in a drawer never getting used.
HYUNDAI MODEL | YEAR FROM | YEAR TO |
I 20 | 2008 | ONWARD |
I 30 | 2007 | 2011 |
I 40 | 2010 | ONWARD |
I 45 | 2009 | ONWARD |
IX 20 | 2010 | ONWARD |
IX35 | 2010 | ONWARD |
The information in the table above should be used as a guide only. Check the photos to see if your key is the same shape as this one, taking care to look at the profile from the end of the key in particular. This profile has a small rib machined into both edges of the key blade and a square slot machined up the centre of both faces of the key. If you are using a key that looks like this but your vehicle is not listed feel free to send us a photo of the key nd we will assit you to choose the correct item.
This key profile is a JMA HY-18.P and is the same as a Silca TOY 49.
It may look similar to the JMA KIA7 or Silca TOY 40 but it is not the same.
Some of the vehicles listed above were released with different keys for different markets and so it is vital to carefully check the key profile of your key as the SILCA TOY40 AND JMA HY-18 profiles look very similar but have subtle differences in shape and fit.
In the case of the models listed above, they use highly encrypted transponder chips and so the vehicle MUST be present to make a new key as we need to gather data from the vehicle and the key using our special equipment to make a copy of the chip.
Please allow a minimum of 10 minutes and up to 45 minutes for certain keys to be copied.

The main security element in modern car & van keys is the transponder chip. These have been used in most makes of cars from the mid 90's. It is this item that allows the car ignition to start the engine. These transponders can come in a few different types and there is more information on this subject in our FAQ section.
In most remote keys the remote and transponder are separate items with the remote simply opening the doors and the transponder being the security. As a cheap alternative to having 2 remote keys, if you simply want a spare key, a transponder key like this one can save you a lot of dollars.
A few things to consider would be:
In most Hyundai cars using a remote key, when the car is locked using the remote and then opened with the key, it sets off the alarm? The alarm will continue until the car is started using a recognized transponder key.
Always a good idea to check this before getting a copy made as if you are sharing the car with another user who uses the remote your neighbours may not be too pleased with the regular early morning car alarm calls. If the key is intended to only be a spare then it will not matter.
A transponder key such as this is essentially waterproof as it does not contain a battery and so if you like surfing, boating, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, fishing or any other water based activities where you have to lock your vehicle and leave it unattended for a while this kind of key will allow you to lock the car and bring the key with you without fear of any water damage as would be the case with a remote key or flip key.
Having a spare transponder key can save you thousands of dollars should you lose your main every day key. Losing your only key with some brands of cars can be a massive headache, involving towing your vehicle to a dealer, having to have the immobilizer box replaced, having all the lock barrels replaced and having the ignition barrel replaced. You may be without your vehicle for up to a week.
Of course this is a worst case scenario and with some makes and models a new key can be cut and coded to your vehicle even is all the keys are lost but even then this is still a much more expensive and stressful procedure than simply having a spare key made.
