VW Touareg 2003 - 2011 4 button non-prox flip key ID46 PCF7947

This product has been temporarily removed from sale as direct result of the Consumer Goods (Products Containing Button/Coin Batteries) Safety Standard 2020 which becomes enforceable on 22nd June 2022 and carries fines of up to $1million. 

All products that contain a button cell or coin type battery must be safety tested to confirm they comply with these new regulations. All button cell batteries must be in a new type of packaging with new labels. 

We are working with all of our suppliers to confirm this compliance before we make the product available for sale again. 

We should have had 18 months to get this compliance but sadly the ACCC did not inform our suppliers or us or pretty much any other industry and we only found out about this new law 4 weeks ago.

The VW Touareg 7L series ran from 2003 - 2011. The original version was manufactured from 2003-2008 and a facelift version from 2007 - 2011.

The Touareg was supplied with various trim levels from entry to high end and the key supplied was dependent on the trim level with the base models being supplied with a normal flip key which would have to be put into the ignition and turned to start the car. The higher end trim levels were supplied with push button start or keyless go functions which are often referred to as Kessy or having proximity functions as the key simplty needs to be in the proximity of the start button to allow the vehicle to start.

With these higher end models the key does not need to be turned to start the vehicle, you simply have to pust the Start/Stop button with a valid key in the vehicle. 

This flip here is a NON-proximity version and so onlty suits Touareg models where you do not have thr puch button start fuiction.

The key uses an ID46 PCF7947 transponder chip and the remote transmits on 433.9 Mhz ASK.

This key is programmed to the vehicle using specialist diagnostic equipment connected to the vehicle. The job usually takes between 45 - 90 minutes. 

In WA this can only be done by a licensed technician. We are licensed to do these types of keys and will be happy to help you.

Adding an extra key when you have a working key is always far cheaper then adding a key when you have lost all your keys and so we strongly reccomend you always have a spare key for your vehicle.
