This product has been temporarily removed from sale as direct result of the Consumer Goods (Products Containing Button/Coin Batteries) Safety Standard 2020 which becomes enforceable on 22nd June 2022 and carries fines of up to $1million.
All products that contain a button cell or coin type battery must be safety tested to confirm they comply with these new regulations. All button cell batteries must be in a new type of packaging with new labels.
We are working with all of our suppliers to confirm this compliance before we make the product available for sale again.
We should have had 18 months to get this compliance but sadly the ACCC did not inform our suppliers or us or pretty much any other industry and we only found out about this new law 4 weeks ago.
Please feel free to email us with the details of what you were looking for and we will give you an update on when we expect it to be back available for sale.
You will see from the features listed against many of the remote controls we sell, that this battery is very widely used. We choose to stock the Hitachi Maxell branded batteries because it is so highly respected in the industry. These batteries are made in Japan and out perform cheaper batteries every time.
The batteries are very well made and we have been selling them now for almost 10 years without 1 failure. Because we turn over a lot of batteries and order directly from the importer the shelf life on our batteries is always long. The current batch we have in stock now has 8 years shelf life left on it.
This is a 3 volt battery and in many of the remote controls that use it you will find it will continue to work, possibly intermittently for a period of time, once the voltage drops below 3 volts. However you will notice that you need to be nearer to the receiver for the device to respond, be that the garage door or gate or your vehicle. This is a good indicator that the battery needs to be replaced.
These small flat round batteries are often referred to as button cell batteries.
These batteries should never be recharged and attempting to recharge them may cause harm.
We are always happy to test the battery in your remote and have a number of different devices in our shop to do this. Leaving a flat battery in a remote may cause it to leak and this can cause a lot of damage inside the remote.
It is always best to replace the battery when it runs out.
We replace batteries in our shop and please note we do charge for this service, as it is carried out by trained staff and these staff have to be paid.
If you simply wish to buy the battery and fit it yourself that is not a problem but please don't ask to use our tools and any damage caused by you while changing the battery may void the warranty for your item.
