Land Rover Discovery 4 2009 onward - 5 button smart proximity key 433 MHz

This top quality aftermarket Land Rover smart proximity key can be added as a spare to Land Rover Discovery 4 models from 2009 onward which are using the same style smart key.

The key comes with a battery fitted and with a blank emergency key blade inside which can be used to open the car door if the remote battery becomes flat. The emergency key will need to be cut to match your original key.

This aftermarket key looks and works just like the original. The remote is also compatible with Discovery models which had the more rectangular style proximity remote.

The remote has 5 buttons for LOCK - UNLOCK - LIGHTS - BOOT - PANIC ALARM.

This type of key is called a proximity or smart key as it allows you to enter the vehicle and start the engine while the key is still in your pocket. Should the battery in the key run out you can still open the vehicle using the emergency key blade and you can start the car by placing the back of the remote against the centre of the plastic cover on the steering column. 

Coding a new key can easily be done if you have a key already and so losing your only key can end in a very very expensive exercise to get a new one coded to your vehicle if you no longer have a working key.

We strongly reccomend you always have a spare key for your vehicle and keep it in a secure and safe place.

Feel free to email us a photo of the details on your key if you are not certain it is correct. You can always drop into our shop and we can scan the key to identify the chip and check the frequency of the remote.

This key can only be coded to the vehicle using a diagnostic tool when at least 1 key is available. We can do this and cut the key blade at our workshop in East Victoia Park in Perth or you can have it done by your local licensed locksmith. Please check with your locksmith first before ordering this key as many locksmiths will only program a key if they have supplied it also.

This key features the HU101 key blade profile which is cut using a milling type key machine often referred to as a wave cut or laser cut. Please see the attached photos to understand how to open the battery and emergency key compartments on your key.

From 2014 onward the vast majority of Landrover vehicles had an update to the KVM (keyless vehicle management) module which prevents even the dealer from adding a spare key to the vehicle using OBD devices. If your vehicle is 2014 or later we advise that the KVM version is checked before a diagnostic tool is used to code a spare smart key as trying to code one to a vehicle using the FK72 KVM can damage the vehicle and end up costing considerable amounts of money.

WARNING! KEEP BATTERIES OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. Never allow children to replace button batteries on any device. Swallowing or placing a button cell battery inside any part of the body may lead to severe or fatal injuries in as little as 2 hours or less due to chemical burns and potential perforation of the oesophagus.

If you suspect your child has swallowed a button battery or placed inside any part of the body, immediately call the POISONS INFORMATION CENTRE on 13 11 26 for prompt advice. If your child is having any difficulty breathing, contact 000.

Dispose of used button/coin batteries immediately and safely. A battery can still be dangerous even when it can no longer operate the device. Place sticky tape around both sides of the battery and dispose of it immediately out of reach of children in an outside bin or recycle safely.
