The Ssangyong black and chrome plastic headed remote key is used on a few Ssangyong models most commonly on the Korando.
The key blade is retained it the shell with 2 screws and sadly it is not a very strong design so we see lots of broken Sssangyong remote keys.
This replacement remote key shell will allow you to transfer the transponder chip and remote circuit board from your damaged key into a new case so it us usable again.
The size of the screw holes in this new blade are smaller than the original key blades and so it is highly reccommended that you get the new key blade cut to match the original and use the new blade with the new case as it will be stronger.
The transponder chip used in these keys is very small and so please take great care when even you open the remote case of your key to avoid losing the chip. If the chips is not in the head of the key, the vehicle will not start.
We can cut the new blade, transfer the chip and circuit board and test it all works correctly at our East Victoria park workshop.
We charge $50 for this service.
If you need a spare remote key for your Ssangyong we can also make you one as a flip key which is much stronger than the original plastic headed remote keys. To make a spare key we will need the vehicle at our workshop for approx 45 minutes. You can book an appointment on (08) 6110 2693
If you plan to swap over the remote PCB and transponder chip yourself please take great care when doing so.
Firstly remove the battery cover and the battery. Remove the small cover over the screws and remove both screws allowing the key blade to be removed too.
Then carefully pry off the chrome side pieces starting at the key blade end. Once these are removed you should be able to separate the front and back sections of the black plastic part of the shell. Now you can transfer the PCB and transponder chip into the new shell and put it back together in reverse order.
