This remote slot key is a key which needs to be placed in the slot in the dash of the car to enable you to start the vehicle.

A proximity remote key can be in your pocket and you will still be able to open and start the car.

It is important to understand the difference between a remote slot key and a proximity remote key, as the technology inside the key will differ and the process to program each type differs dramatically.

Programming Volvo keys is a slow process and it can take up to 3 hours on some vehicles to decrypt the data to retrieve the password. 

These genuine Volvo remotes are sold without an emergency key blade. We stock an aftermarket emergency key blade which can be ordered from the Compatible Items tab below. 

Programming is charged at $165 on top of the cost of the key.
