VW 2 part flip key replacement flip key end

This style of flip key was used extensively with VW models including:

VW Bora 

VW Caddy

VW Golf 

VW Jetta

VW Passat

VW Polo

VW Sharan

VW Touran

VW Transporter

Please note this is the older 2 part flip key type. There is a very similar looking flip key used on later models which does not split into 2 parts like this one. Please check the front of your flip key to see if it has the split line next to the boot button.

You will also notice that LED lens is next to the Lock button on this older type of key, whereas on the newer version the LED lens is at the top near the key blade.

We know it can be very frustrating when the key blade breaks apart from the flip part of your key.

This flip key shell part allows you to transfer your transponder chip into the new shell and have the HU66 key blade cut to match and your are back in action.

To separate the remote part from the key part, make sure the key is extended. In the slot where the key folds into you will see a join. Place a flat blade screw driver here and twist. The remote part should now slide out of the flip key section.

Now if you look at the end that was inside the key part you will see the join line. Again carefully place a small to medium flat blade screw driver in this join and twist. This will lift the button pad off the rest of the remote.

Once in 2 pieces you will need to lift the VW logo on your old key and underneath you will see the screw that holds the key end together. Remove this to open up this part and you will see a small glass tube type transponder chip. This needs to be very carefully transferred into the new flip key part so that the car will start. 

It is always a good idea to test the battery as you have the remote open anyway. This can be done using a multi-meter if you have one. 

The change over is pretty easy to do yourself or come into our shop in East Victoria Park and we will swap them over for you, cut the new key blade and check that everything is functioning correctly afterwards.
