This type key has been used with many different Suzuki models including:
APV
Grand Vitara
Ignis
Jimmny
Liana
Swift
SX4
There are also a number of other manufactures who have used this shape key including some Holden models. This rubber pad will fit all of those also.
Suzuki build good cars that last, sadly the remote controls pads do not all fair as well. So if your remote now has holes in the rubber button pad, it is best to repair it before moisture gets in and ruins the circuits completely leading to a much bigger expense.
This high quality rubber pad fits neatly into the original shell and will protect the electronic circuits from moisture and damage and makes your remote look like new again.
To open the remote part first carefully remove the screw. We see lots of these where the head of the screw is stripped so please use the correct size screw driver and if the screw does not immediately turn take extra care to ensure the screw driver does not spin in the head of the screw as this will almost certainly strip it.
Once the screw is removed you should be able to remove the back cover of the remote key. Next simply remove the old pad from your remote and insert this new one to make your remote look as good as new.
While you have it open it is a good idea to test the battery and make sure it still shows 3 volts. Also take a look at the front of the circuit board and see if there is any green corrosion showing around the buttons. If there is you will need to clean the board using PCB cleaner, making sure to remove the battery first.
Spray the button side of the circuit board with PCB cleaner and after about 30 seconds gently press the buttons with a clean dry rag, preferably something super absorbent such as old cotton t-shirt material. You should see the green corrosion transfer to the t-shirt. You may need to do this a few times and respray with more PCB cleaner. If you have access to low pressure canned compressed air you can also give it a gently blow with this but please do not use high pressure air as this will almost certainly damage the buttons.
Once the board is clean make sure to wait at least 30 minutes before placing the circuit board back in the shell or anywhere near the battery.
The kit includes just the 1 rubber pad as shown in the photos and is easy to do yourself or come into our shop and we will swap them over for you, with a free battery test included.
Please note we do charge a $20 fee for this service in store.
